The Pharmacy Department

NorthShore University HealthSystem’s Pharmacy Department provides a variety of services across the continuum of care. Inpatient services are provided by decentralized (unit-based) pharmacists. Distribution is through Pyxis and centralized IV preparation.

Ambulatory services are currently provided through our outpatient and retail pharmacies, oncology clinic pharmacies, home infusion pharmacy, anticoagulation clinics and general medicine clinic.

Our philosophy is that all pharmacists need to be in a position to promote pharmaceutical care by:

  • Influencing drug-therapy decisions
  • Educating health care professionals and students
  • Ensuring appropriate drug therapy outcomes
  • Educating patients to ensure positive outcomes of drug therapy
