Whatever your career goals are, the Program is invested in your success.  Program directors and faculty provide lectures and how-to sessions on career planning, conduct mock interviews, and help with CVs and personal statements.

Primary Care

If Internal Medicine is your goal, you’ll get solid training in both the art and the science of medicine from distinguished faculty. Many residents find that NorthShore is the place to continue their career, joining NorthShore Medical Group, one of the largest multi-specialty groups in the country. In fact, almost half our faculty are graduates of our program, with opportunities in both outpatient primary care and our Division of Hospitalist Medicine.

Subspeciality Training

If you are interested in pursuing a sub-specialty, we have an excellent track record of matching residents with the most competitive fellowship programs in the nation.

Each year over half of our graduates continue into traditional sub-specialty medicine. Our residents have regularly successfully matched into competitive fellowships in specialties such as endocrinology, gastroenterology and nephrology at major institutions including the University of Michigan, University of Chicago, Northwestern University, University of Pennsylvania, Cleveland Clinic and Yale.  NorthShore began its own Gastroenterology Fellowship in 2012.
