While ninety percent of all back injuries do not require surgery, early intervention for any spine injury is crucial.

The Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Services team works closely with the orthopaedic, neurosurgical and physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists in the multidisciplinary Spine Center to provide rehabilitative care for back and neck pain.

Our therapists work closely with board-certified physiatrists, who specialize in the treatment of non-surgical orthopaedic and spine injuries, to carefully evaluate patients with spinal conditions. Based on their assessments, they customize rehabilitation programs focused on achieving optimal clinical outcomes as well as the individual’s personal goals. Our dedicated therapists utilize current evidence-based treatment in the rehabilitation of the spine, employing best practices in treating challenging spinal issues.

The Schroth Method can be an effective therapy for adolescent patients idiopathic scoliosis and adult patients with significant spinal curves. NorthShore, as one of the few healthcare providers within the Chicagoland area offering this form of therapy, provides patients with physical therapists specifically trained and certified in the Schroth Method.

We also offer a special Back Class held monthly at several of our NorthShore rehab clinic locations. The class provides participants with the latest information on spinal anatomy, ergonomics and maintenance of spinal health.
