Standard Hospital Charges

To plan for your healthcare expenses, it helps to know what to expect. NorthShore is committed to price transparency and has posted the lists of charges for inpatient and outpatient services (chargemaster).  The hospital’s charges are the same for all patients, but a patient’s financial responsibility may vary due to a variety of factors, including negotiated rates with individual health insurance companies and a patient’s out of pocket costs (e.g., deductible, coinsurance, etc).

For a price estimate for an upcoming service (provided in a user-friendly format), please use our Cost of Care Estimates Tool or contact a Financial Counselor at 847.982.3942 who can provide you with your estimated out of pocket cost and what to anticipate in the billing process.

Comprehensive Hospital Charges
Our Chargemaster is a comprehensive list of charges for services provided by our Hospitals.  In accordance with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, we have provided information on payer-specific negotiated rates, as well as minimum and maximum negotiated charges by service, in the required machine-readable format.  Hospital charge data is not representative of a patient’s expected out of pocket costs and these charges do not include the charges associated with physician or professional services that may be billed separately.  Patients should talk to their insurance company or one of our financial counselors to understand what costs will be covered by insurance and what costs will be patient responsibility.

The comprehensive charges described in the files below are subject to change. To access this information, an application designed to handle large data files is recommended.
