About Us

Welcome to the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Facing mental health issues and finding your way through the mental health system can be emotionally trying and confusing.

Our goal is to put you at the center of treatment. By that, we aim to provide you with a carefully crafted treatment plan and solid, evidence-based, comprehensive treatments for you and your family.

As is true in other fields of medicine, it's very important to "get it right" from the start. We may take a bit longer to determine your diagnosis, asking you to complete symptom rating scales or even to consider more formal testing. Throughout your treatment, we will be asking some standard questions to better chart your progress as well as to improve our treatment approaches.

We offer a wide range of types and levels of services for individuals suffering from depressive or anxiety disorders. We have intensive programs including partial, or day, hospital treatment programs, intensive outpatient programs and individual therapy. Our goal is to ensure that your treatment plan goes smoothly so there are no diversions on your road to recovery. A key part of treatment is education for both you and your family. People faced with emotional problems or mental problems need to acquire new sets of skills and also need to know all resources available to them. As such, throughout the year we will be offering a variety of skill-based therapy groups and lectures.

On behalf of all of us at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, I wish you a full and speedy recovery.
