Should hearing loss be determined through testing, our team of audiologists will provide the patient with treatment options to improve hearing. Although some hearing loss caused by infection or a buildup of earwax can be treated with medication or by removing the earwax, gradual hearing loss can be addressed through the use of hearing aids.
If a hearing aid is determined to be the best hearing loss treatment option, audiologists will assist patients in selecting, fitting and checking the selected hearing aid to ensure amplified sound and improved hearing.
In the case of severe hearing loss resulting from damage to the inner ear, a cochlear implant provided through our Neurotology/Otology program may be required. However, for certain types of hearing loss or ear disorders, hearing aids or cochlear implants may not be appropriate and other types of implantable devices, including Baha and Sophono, may be recommended.
