When your teen reaches the age of 16 to 18, she should start seeing a gynecologist regularly for ongoing good health, as well as preventative steps such as birth control and STI screenings. Because of the physical and emotional changes that accompany sexual development, it is important to equip your teen with the correct information on teenage health, sex and sexuality through open discussions both with you and her physician.
