Testicular cancer is a relatively rare cancer that originates in the testicles (testes). It typically occurs in mostly young men between the ages of 15 and 34.

Testicular Cancer Screening and Diagnosis
Some men may discover a lump in their testicle even before a physical exam by a doctor. When having a testicular cancer screening, your doctor will perform a physical exam and order further testing, including blood tests to measure certain tumor markers and ultrasound to see a picture of the mass in a patient’s testicle.
If a diagnosis of testicular cancer is made, a physician will determine the severity or stage of the cancer, including whether it has spread to other areas of the body.
Personalized Testicular Cancer Treatment
Testicular cancer is highly treatable. The type of treatment will be recommended based on the stage and type of cancer; biology of the tumor; and goals of the patient. Multimodal strategies combining chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery are often used to ensure the best possible outcomes. We also offer a program of active surveillance following surgery. Patients are monitored regularly and only treated with another form of testicular cancer treatment (chemotherapy, radiation or both) if active cancer recurs. Because testicular cancer affects mostly young men of childbearing age, helping patients maintain fertility is of high importance.
Our multidisciplinary team meets regularly in a multidisciplinary conference to discuss each patient’s case in detail and to design a personalized testicular cancer treatment plan. Your team may include your medical oncologist, surgeon, radiation oncologist, geneticist, pathologist, nutritionist, pharmacist, interventional radiologist, social worker and researchers, all focused on you. This "meeting of the minds" provides critical input, resulting in an individualized care plan outlining the best course of action for your care.
