I am very pleased with Dr. Malik and all of the services I have received at Northshore University health system, except for those of the billing departmentFor several months I was being billed for $24.73 which had been paid by my supplemental insurance. There was no way I could email proof of that payment to the billing department since attachments are not allowed. 1 day I called, and asked for a callback. They called me back when I was about 11th in line, and I requested a call back again. The next time they called, I was 33rd in line, so I figured I had better stay on the line and wait. When I was second in line, they hung up on me. I had wasted the whole day being near my phone, waiting for the callback. So I wrote a letter, including proof that my insurance had paid the bill. I asked that they contact me to tell me they had cleared my record. They never did. I see they also have a bill pending for about $10 for Dr. Zamboni, a podiatrist I had seen years ago. When that bill was processed, Medicare said it was paid at a lower amount because the visit was done in a hospital and not a doctor's office. I told Medicare that it was done in the office of Dr. Zambolo and gave the address in Lincolnshire, Illinois. I thought that would take care of things. It did not, and NorthShore still says I might owe the money, even though they lied about where the visit was done. Also, I was surprised when I went to my recent Medicare wellness appointment and found that my supplemental insurance information was wrong . Although I had updated it in NorthShore connect a year and a half ago, it was wrong. Why tell us to update things if you never make the changes? On my visit with Dr. Malik this week, the staff person at the desk updated the information, and it appears to be correct now. Your billing department is awful, and it causes much stress for many.
