NorthShore Orthopaedic & Spine Institute Nationally Ranked in U.S. News & World Report’s Annual Best Hospitals Listing
7/28/2021 – NorthShore Orthopaedic & Spine Institute has been named one of the top 50 specialty programs in the country in U.S. News & World Report’s annual ‘Best Hospital’ rankings for 2021-22. This marks the first time NorthShore has been nationally ranked in orthopedics in the annual listing. The report also ranked NorthShore as the #6 hospital in both Illinois and the Chicago metro area.
“This tremendous accomplishment is the result of our talented surgeons, leading-edge regional anesthesiologists, dedicated medicine consultants, skilled physician assistants, and expert teams of nurses, therapists, technicians and ancillary team members working together to achieve nationally leading outcomes for our patients,” said Jason Koh, MD, the Institute’s Director and Mark R. Neaman Family Chair of Orthopaedic Surgery.
The report evaluated more than 1,600 orthopaedic programs and hospitals on metrics such as 30-day survival, discharging patients home after surgery, patient experience, nurse staffing, advanced technologies and expert opinion to calculate their rankings.
NorthShore Orthopaedic & Spine Institute’s specialty hospital in Skokie opened in 2019 and is the only hospital dedicated to orthopedic and spine care in Illinois.
The annual Best Hospitals rankings recognize hospitals that excel in treating patients with the most challenging medical conditions. More than 4,700 hospitals nationwide were analyzed and ranked in 15 specialties and 17 procedures and conditions.
