After having practiced orthopaedic surgery with a specialty in hip and knee replacements since 1978, I have retired from surgical practice. My plan is to continue to see patients as a non-operative surgeon and use that experience to provide advice to patients with hip and knee osteoarthritis or who have previous hip or knee replacements. For patients who might benefit from surgery, I can help guide that decision and refer them to my colleagues in joint reconstruction here at NorthShore.

Orthopaedic Joint Care
unpleasant experience which I previously described
*Dr. Wixon is the BEST!
Dr Wixson has been my orthopedic surgeon for years and I have complete confidence in his care for me
*Dr. Wixson has always looked out for my best interests and is always forward looking. He demonstrated that today as well. Although he does not do the surgery now he continues to think forward to my health.
*DR. RICHARD WIXSOM was an excellent care taker; informative, patient, kind, humorous (gently so).
*Dr. Wixson's concern for the well being of his patient is very evident. His explanation of my concern was very clear, as well as, what I should do to promote the healing of my hip.
The doctor made very little effort to talk to me about my problem, the medication, the prognosis.
I was called in immediately when I arrived. Dr Wixson had already ordered x-rays to be taken, evidencing that he knew all about why I was coming in. He examined me and discussed my problem with me very thoroughly and showed me examples. He informed me of various methods of treatment and medications. He advised me on what he recommended. He is very knowledgeable and explained all the ramifications very simply. --Very professional. I would definitely recommend him to others.
Dr. Wilson understood my fears and has made me aware of what to watch for and I will not panic after seeing him.
