After having practiced orthopaedic surgery with a specialty in hip and knee replacements since 1978, I have retired from surgical practice. My plan is to continue to see patients as a non-operative surgeon and use that experience to provide advice to patients with hip and knee osteoarthritis or who have previous hip or knee replacements. For patients who might benefit from surgery, I can help guide that decision and refer them to my colleagues in joint reconstruction here at NorthShore.

*Dr. Wixson performed my total knee replacement (right) in 2012. I could not have received better results and experience. Even though he no longer does surgeries, i was so grateful to hear he was at least doing consultations. I actually had surgery for me left knee elsewhere, but cancelled after given erroneous info. I'm so happy to be back in capable hands! *Dr. Wixson is truly the best doctor I've ever had!
He is very intelligent and willing to listen and explain all aspects. I trust him very much.
*Dr. Wixson was fantastic! Very knowledgeable, non-condescending, and personable.
*Dr. Wixson is an excellent and caring person. I received a thorough examination of both knees and have total confidence in his explanation of the problem - (that isn't a failure of my knee replacement).
Dr Wixson is superb - the knee replacement he did for me is coming along fine and looks like will last a long time. And he is wonderful to talk to - takes all the time necessary to explain what is needed and makes me feel very reassured that I have him in my corner. Thanks, Dr W.
unpleasant experience which I previously described
