Dr. Melnyck very good at explaining the options I had.
We met with a genetic counselor and intern. Then later with a doctor. The answers above pertain to the genetic counselor and intern. They were very professional and yet personal too. I give them both my highest rating. We met with the doctor for a very short time. From my point of view, the meeting with the doctor was unnecessary and added no value.
Very thorough and explanations were excellent. His genetic counselor Shayna was so very good at explaining things as well. I was very impressed!
This was my first appointment. Numbers 4-6 were not applicable.
the genetic counselor was also quite wonderful
I could have used more guidance and explanation.
Genetic counselor provided significant explanations and answered questions in addition to doctor's role.
#5 - no meds prescribed
Dr. Melnyk is very matter-of-fact, and explains with perfect clarity why he is performing his testing, and what it means when he is finished. He is concise, and I really appreciate the way he operates after such a long appointment with such a sensitive diagnosis.
The genetic counselor told me that she would go over the details of our discussion with Dr. Melnyk. When he came in the room, he didn't even know (or remember) which relative had a history of ovarian cancer. I left not knowing what he was really recommending and why. I just went by what the genetic counselor told me as she seemed to have a better understanding.
