Teen and Tween Dialectical Behavior Therapy Groups
The Teen and Tween Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) groups are skills and process-based designed for middle school and high school students. This group is appropriate for teens who are feeling stressed or overwhelmed about school, friends, family, relationships. They may feel isolated, procrastinate, feel depressed or have a hard time adjusting. The Tween group meets separately from the Older Teen Group, and registration is rolling.

Teens will engage in:
- Mindfulness arts & crafts activities
- Connecting with other teens to not feel alone
- Talking about their current struggles and learning coping skills
- Learning proven dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills to cope with and tolerate their emotions, and learn how to get their needs met from others (parents, friends)
Jump Start
The behavioral weight management program, JUMP START, is underway and being led by Ashley Rolnik, PhD. New sessions will be starting soon again!
JUMP START is a 6-session skills-based/cognitive-behavioral group for patients needing support with maladaptive eating, weight-management, and incorporating exercise into their lifestyle. The group will cover topics such as self-monitoring, mindful eating, emotional eating, and strategies to overcome common barriers towards exercise. DBT Skills Group
The Dialectical Behavior Therapy group is a 10-session skills-based group that covers Distress Tolerance, Interpersonal Effectiveness and Emotion Regulation. The group runs quarterly, with sessions beginning in October, January, April and July. These skills will help attendees to cope better with crises, navigate interpersonal interactions more effectively and provide skills to even out emotional extremes.

Cognitive Behavioral Essentials
The Cognitive Behavioral Essentials (CBE) group is led by Alona Ramati, PhD. The group meets for one hour on Thursdays at 9:30am on the second floor of Glenbrook Hospital ACC, suite 2000, 2180 Pfingsten Road, Glenview. The main purpose of the group is to reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety and facilitate adjustment and coping by learning CBT techniques. The group will cover topics such as thought tracking, cognitive reframing, behavioral activation, relaxation techniques and mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy skills. The group is adapted for seniors and not only focusses on general CBT skills and concepts, but also on specific issues related to aging, caregiving, loss and disability. Participants will benefit from simply listening, and it is up to each individual how much (or little) they would like to share with the group regarding their personal experiences. The group is appropriate for individuals with all types of mood and anxiety disorders who are appropriate for outpatient treatment. The group is ongoing and patients are welcome to join at any time. We recommend that patients attend at least eight consecutive sessions in order to cover the entire curriculum of the group.

Parenting Teens Group
A 4-session group designed for parents of teens aged 12-19 led by Lara Jakobsons, PhD. This group is appropriate for parents who are frustrated, stressed or uncertain how to support their teen who is experiencing anxiety, stress, depression, intense emotions, or challenging behaviors. Parents may also have difficulty communicating with their teen. Parents will learn proven dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills to effectively communicate & plan responses to their teen, help their teen navigate his or her emotions and behaviors, and use coping strategies to manage parents’ own reactions to their teen.

Gut-Directed Relaxation Program
The Gut-Directed Relaxation Program is a 7-week program that is led in a classroom format (one hour per week for 7 weeks). Dr. Rolnik works directly with your doctor and healthcare team. This therapy is meant to complement traditional treatments you have tried or are currently using as prescribed by your doctor. This program leads participants through relaxation sessions to address and reduce painful GI symptoms. Relaxation has been shown to improve participant’s quality of life and gastrointestinal symptoms. This program is ideal for people who are suffering from lower GI problems. Typical symptoms include cramping, diarrhea, abdominal pain, gas, bloating, nausea, constipation, and dyspepsia. In particular, this group is ideal for people with irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease, and ulcerative colitis.

The Health and Wellness Relaxation Program
The Health and Wellness Relaxation Program is 7-week program that is led in a classroom format (one hour per week for 7 weeks). Relaxation is meant to complement traditional treatments you have tried or are currently using for conditions such as pain, headaches, and other unpleasant physical symptoms. This program leads participants through relaxation sessions to address and reduce physical discomfort and improve general wellness.
This program is ideal for people who are suffering from a variety of physical conditions, including pain/chronic pain, headaches, upper GI symptoms, and for general stress management.
