The Family and Couples Counseling Program offers counseling to families and couples with the goal of strengthening relationships, enhancing connections and giving partners and family members the skills to resolve conflicts. Research consistently demonstrates that when these vitally essential relationships are improved they result in lower stress levels and better overall health.
- Family counseling is often the treatment of choice when a child is struggling in school, has sibling problems or when a family is coping with job loss, divorce or illness. It also is essential for helping a child who seems anxious or depressed, has problems with friendships or trouble paying attention in class. Counseling helps families cope during various phases of life transitions, such as the birth of a child, divorce or empty nest.
- Couples counseling provides couples with the skills they need to improve their communication, resolve differences, and enhance closeness and intimacy. It also identifies behaviors and attitudes partners frequently do not recognize as problematic and offers alternative ways of relating, which serve to further deepen their sense of connection.
