Gene-Disease Associations and Treatment Outcomes

We have partnered with Northwestern University's Center for Genetic Medicine to expand our genetic research capabilities by creating a gene bank. Individuals who would like to contribute health information and DNA to on-going gene discovery research can participate in the gene bank.

Study Participant Recruitment & Eligibility

Recruitment open

NUgene is a large-scale banking study with the goal of enrolling at least 100,000 participants from the Chicago area. The intent of this study is to collect blood samples for DNA extraction, and obtain associated health information on participants from their electronic medical records and self-reported questionnaires on health topics. Data will be “banked” for future analysis. Samples and associated health information will be made available to researchers with approved studies. The DNA samples and health information will be used to develop associations between genetic markers and diseases, drug susceptibility and therapeutic efficacy. This study will include patients from Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Northwestern Memorial Faculty Foundation and NorthShore who are at least 18 years of age.

If interested in participating in this study, please call us for more specific information on eligibility 312.695.0700.

Outcomes
To date, the NUgene study has enrolled over 5,700 subjects.
