Research and Academic Interests
My primary research interest has been infectious disease in pregnancy. I am also the Primary Investigator for the NorthShore site of the Northwestern University center of the NICHD-sponsored Maternal Fetal Medicine Unit Network. This network performs multi-center studies of pregnant women and their newborns.
Career Summary
After completing my fellowship, I joined the faculty at the Medical College of Virginia (now Virginia Commonwealth University) where I worked for 12 years. I became a tenured Associate Professor and was the Head of the Maternal Fetal Medicine Division. My research interests while there were HIV in pregnancy and group B streptococcus. In 2001, I returned to the Midwest and have been with NorthShore University HealthSystem since then, reaching the rank of Clinical Professor. My primary research focus here at NorthShore has been the NICHD Maternal Fetal Medicine Unit Network studies.
