The NorthShore University HealthSystem Research Institute serves as a focal point for more than 1,000 active research projects and nearly 200 externally funded research faculty.  Funding from the NIH places NorthShore University HealthSystem among the top 10 comprehensive research hospitals in the country, #1 in the State of Illinois, and in the top 5% of all institutions.  Priority areas for research are medical genetics, cancer, neurosciences, advanced imaging research, cardiovascular and peri-neonatal research.  The Research Institute received more than $33M in annualized external awards. 

Through the NorthShore University HealthSystem Technology Transfer Office, the Research Institute seeks to accelerate the discovery process through partnerships and the dissemination of innovations to the public.  Committed to promoting groundbreaking discoveries, the Technology Transfer Office facilitates the commercialization of inventions produced by our researchers.  Currently, NorthShore University HealthSystem Research Institute is actively looking for companies to co-develop or license numerous opportunities in the oncology, medical device, and diagnostic arenas.
