Clinical Trials
Daniel Ray, MD is the principle NorthShore University HealthSystem investigator of a collaborative effort spearheaded by Cornell University that involves 40 institutions worldwide on lung cancer. The I-ELCAP (International Early Lung Cancer Action Project) research effort will enroll and follow more than 35,000 high-risk patients (current or former smokers, age>45, 20 pack-years smoking) using low-dose spiral CT for early detection of lung cancer. This project uses a tested methodology and comprehensive database, and quality control measures to track each patient, and ensure the necessary follow-up. The new non-contrast low-dose GE lightspeed CT scanners are available at Evanston and Glenbrook Hospitals. Referral from a primary care physician is required. Information on the study is also available at www.ielcap.org.
