Dyssynchrony echocardiogram is performed on patients with heart failure or reduced heart function.
What to Expect
This is a limited study that evaluates the left ventricle, or the main pumping chamber of the heart. The test will take about 45 minutes to perform. A technician will place a transducer with gel onto the chest area and move it around to produce images of your heart. These images will be displayed onto a television monitor for the technician to visualize, and they will also be recorded for a Cardiologist to review. A dysynchony echocardiogram uses advanced Doppler ultrasound techniques including tissue Doppler - to determine whether cardiac pacemaker resynchronization therapy will benefit the hearts function.
Formal written results will be available to your physician within 24 hours. Your doctor may also be contacted by telephone immediately afterwards for abnormal results.
