General Surgery

The general surgeons at NorthShore University HealthSystem perform a wide variety of surgeries covering many areas of the body, such as the breast and abdomen. Patients are usually referred to a general surgeon by their primary care physician. Once under the care of an NorthShore general surgeon, patients can expect a multidisciplinary approach for their specific health concern.

NorthShore's fellowship-trained general surgeons are nationally recognized and are on the faculty of the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine.  The Department is involved in research, teaching and clinical trials.

NorthShore general surgeons are on the forefront of new medical technology and procedures, and were the first in Illinois to use  Intuitive Surgical’s da Vinci ® S™ Surgical System. da Vinci is a state-of-the-art robotic system designed to expand the surgeon’s capabilities, providing patients with a minimally invasive option for many complex procedures.
