Important Information about Potential Tuberculosis Exposure

4/13/2009 - Evanston Hospital is one of three area hospitals affected by a recent potential tuberculosis (TB) exposure from a health care worker. We have determined that the situation affected a limited number of patients and staff in Evanston Hospital’s Infant Special Care Unit between February 11, 2009, and March 12 2009, and believe the risk of exposure is extremely low.

To ensure the health and safety of all involved, we contacted all  patients and staff who may have been exposed. If you have not received a phone call or a letter from NorthShore University HealthSystem regarding the potential TB exposure, then you do not need to do anything at this point.

The Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) has assured the public that while there is cause for concern there is no cause for alarm. We are working closely with the CDPH, Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP) on this situation.
