Comprehensive Vascular Care

Minimally Invasive Endovascular TechniquesWe treat a number of vascular disease conditions via minimally invasive catheter-based procedures. These endovascular treatments feature smaller incisions, faster healing, less pain and shorter recovery with virtually no down time. You quickly return to work, school and other activities of daily living.

Endovascular procedures range from peripheral angioplasty as well as stent graft placement for the treatment of aortic aneurysms and carotid artery disease. NorthShore’s Evanston Hospital houses a state-of-the-art endovascular suite that provides our vascular surgeons with the latest imaging technology and endovascular instruments for both inpatient and same-day surgeries. Located within the Operating Room, the suite is dedicated to serving the specific needs of our vascular surgery patients.

NorthShore’s vascular surgeons also have extensive experience treating venous conditions such as varicose veins with a wide array of leading-edge procedures. We are now offering the new-FDA approved VenaSeal™ Closure System, a non-surgical option that effectively treats varicose veins with little to no pain.

Open Surgical Therapies
Our vascular surgeons are skilled in providing the advanced open or conventional surgical options, when needed, for the treatment of vascular disease, including:

  • Arterial bypass
  • Carotid endarterectomy
  • Abdominal or thoracic aortic aneurysm repair
  • Advanced limb salvage or reconstruction

Medical Management

Not all vascular conditions require major or, in fact, any surgery. Our vascular surgery and vascular medicine specialists combine their expertise to provide you with the optimal vascular care plan. Our physicians often employ risk modification strategies such as diet and exercise; medication and/or minimally invasive interventional procedures in their treatment planning. Comprehensive surveillance of your vascular disease is also an important component of your care at NorthShore.

Multidisciplinary Team Approach

Our vascular surgical and medical experts provide personalized treatment for the best patient outcomes and quality of life. As vascular conditions can affect many parts of the body, a multidisciplinary approach is key to optimizing care. We work closely with a variety of other specialists, including vascular medicine experts, interventional radiologists, cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, nephrologists and general practitioners.

Need a Second Opinion?
Has surgery been recommended for your aortic aneurysm, peripheral arterial disease or venous condition? Would you like to confirm your diagnosis or get another perspective before you make this critical healthcare decision? Our vascular surgery team offers a second opinion service for patients who may not necessarily want to change doctors but who want to better understand all of their options.

Our cardiovascular specialists will address your concerns, discuss your options and help you face your decision with confidence. While many of our patients come from the Midwest region, our specialists regularly consult with patients from around the country.
