  • The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at NorthShore University HealthSystem (NorthShore), the principal academic affiliate of the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine is seeking an individual to serve as full-time Associate Director of the Core Laboratory, with special emphasis on Immunology/Biochemistry and Director of POCT.

    The successful candidate for the position will have an MD or PhD, and a background in medical and clinical chemistry in a university or large health system setting. The associate director will work closely with the Director to provide technical innovation and oversight, maintain competency of staff, and consult with clinical services. In addition, this individual will collaborate on the development and validation of new technologies that advance laboratory diagnosis. Other responsibilities include teaching residents, medical students, and medical technology students. Certification by the American Board of Pathology or the American Association of Clinical Chemistry is required.

    The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine includes 29 full-time physicians and doctoral scientists, 10 of whom are in the Clinical Pathology and Molecular Pathology Divisions. The Laboratories are centralized at Evanston Hospital and serve the entire NorthShore system which includes 4 hospitals (875 beds) and over 875+ medical group physicians. The Biochemistry Laboratories have 63 FTE’s, state of the art automation and technology, and will be fully renovated during 2015-6.
