The incidence of malignant melanoma continues to rise faster than any other cancer in the United States. Advanced technology, including automated total body mapping, help ensure timely diagnosis of benign and malignant skin tumors and successful surgical removal.
In some cases, melanoma may spread or recur within an arm or leg. At NorthShore, our surgical oncologists are among only a handful of specialists in the country who perform isolated limb infusions and perfusions to treat this challenging condition. This unique form of regional therapy, delivers a concentrated dose of chemotherapy directly to the area of cancer recurrence, while minimizing systemic side effects and preserving tissue and avoiding amputation.
In addition to melanoma, our experts also care for other benign and malignant skin diseases, including basal cell carcinomas, squamous cell carcinomas, spindle cell tumors and Merkel cell tumors.
