My main areas of interest are pathology of the breast and medical diseases of the kidney. I have been involved with the breast cancer program at NorthShore as it has grown to be leader in this area. I have collaborated with other members on multiple clinical studies on the natural history of breast cancer and its precursors. In addition, I have been particularly interested in prognostic factors in breast cancer, especially newer molecular methods for assessing recurrence risk. In renal pathology, I have primary responsibility for renal biopsy pathology, including analysis of light microscopic, direct immunofluorescence, electron microscopic and clinical findings in order to reach a diagnosis. In this capacity, I interact closely with the clinical staff and conduct regular teaching conferences with pathology residents, medical resident, fellows and clinicians.
