Residency Programs Overview

NorthShore University HealthSystem (NorthShore) has over 150 residents rotating at its hospitals at a given time.  Evanston Hospital is the primary teaching site and many residents also provide patient care at Glenbrook Hospital. Additionally, selected residencies rotate through the Highland Park Hospital and Skokie Hospital sites.

Residents rotate from both NorthShore-based programs (Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Pathology, Preliminary Year, Transitional Year) and University of Chicago-based programs (including Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Radiology, Anesthesiology, Orthopaedics and Psychiatry).

Residents provide care for a diverse group of patients from the NorthShore community with both established and undifferentiated medical needs.  Residents have experiences in both primary care and specialty care and work with an enthusiastic, dedicated group of teaching faculty.
