NorthShore University HealthSystem realizes that the care patients receive from their nurses can make all the difference in their recovery. As a result, the GCSI holds several different courses for nurses, allowing them to review their skills and practice new methods in a safe environment.
The GCSI continuously offers recertification courses such as BLS, ACLS, PALS, ABLS, and NRP. All NorthShore nurses are required to attend a nursing skills day upon being hired, which includes managing mock codes. In addition, new courses are always being developed to improve methods of current practice. All nurses are encouraged to attend GCSI courses because practicing and perfecting emergency management is critical for positive patient outcomes.
