During their Emergency Medicine rotation, medical students heavily utilize the Grainger Center for Simulation and Innovation. Our simulation team recreates real patient scenarios to allow students to manage difficult or rare cases in a controlled environment. Students are also able to practice procedures such as lumbar punctures, chest tube insertions, and central line catheter insertions before performing them on real patients. After each scenario, a video-aided debriefing session occurs to allow students to review and improve their methods for managing the case.
