  • Feeling sleepy or irritable during the day
  • Difficulty staying awake while sitting (i.e. watching television, reading a book)
  • Falling asleep while driving
  • Difficulty concentrating at work, school, or home
  • Others tell you often you look tired
  • Memory problems
  • Slow reaction
  • Emotional outbursts
  • A feeling that you need to nap everyday
  • Need caffeinated beverages to make it through the day

Sleep disorders in adults may increase your chances of developing hypertension, heart disease and mood and memory problems.  If indicated, following an outpatient evaluation, patients are referred for an overnight sleep study.

  • snoring/breathing difficulties while sleeping
  • bedtime refusal
  • insomnia
  • sleepwalking
  • sleep terrors, nightmares or nighttime fears
  • unusual sleep behaviors
  • excessive daytime sleepiness
  • bedwetting
  • difficulty falling or remaining asleep

Sleep disorders in children can lead to behavior problems, mood disturbances and academic problems.  A pediatric neurologist evaluates children suspected of suffering from sleep dysfunction.  If indicated, following an outpatient evaluation, patients are referred for an overnight sleep study.
