Convenience and Compassion at Breast Center

Glenbrook Hospital facility provides sophisticated diagnostic testing, treatment and support

Every woman wants her mammogram screening to be as pleasant and easy as possible. And that’s what the Center for Breast Health at Glenbrook Hospital provides for thousands of women. If a positive diagnosis is made, the staff is trained to provide often overlooked emotional support.

A wide range of advanced diagnostic screening tests and interventional capabilities are available under one roof. This includes digital mammography, film-screen mammography and computer-aided biopsy systems. Patients also have timely access to breast MRIs. “Minimally invasive image-guided biopsy systems allow for precise evaluation of tumors that may not be detectable by physical findings,” explains David J. Winchester, MD, Department of Surgical Oncology at NorthShore University HealthSystem (NorthShore).

“Our goal is to provide everything from advanced equipment to human compassion, particularly for those women who are newly diagnosed,” says Jan Jeske, MD, NorthShore Department of Radiology. “This Center is special because of the close proximity of specialized radiologists, surgeons, nurses and genetic counselors who provide comprehensive evaluation and support for women requiring therapy or additional monitoring.”
