NorthShore University HealthSystem is seeking an exemplary leader to serve as the Chairman of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. NorthShore is a $1.5B, four-hospital, fully integrated healthcare system located on Lake Michigan’s North Shore. NorthShore employs approximately 9,000 people and has 2,400 affiliated physicians including a 740-physician multispecialty group practice with 75 office locations.
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine has three divisions, is accredited by CAP, and supports the mission of patient care for the community by providing clinical laboratory and anatomic diagnostic services for the treatment of disease and the promotion of health. The Department engages in a wide variety of academic pursuits. The Department supports the educational mission with an ACGME accredited pathology residency program with 12 residents, surgical pathology fellowship and an accredited free standing medical technology training program.
Successful candidates for the Chair of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine must be respected academicians with excellent clinical, teaching and research skills. Candidates must have demonstrated leadership abilities, having served as a Division Chief or in a similar key leadership position and demonstrated the ability to lead a diverse, complex and well balanced department while achieving growth, loyalty and quality goals of the institution and the Department. A strong commitment to education and the ability to recruit top faculty leaders is required. The Department supports active research throughout the organization and the Chairman must be able to evaluate scientific quality and support an environment that attracts and retains quality research within the Department.
Candidates will be proposed for an academic appointment at the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine. A medical degree from an accredited medical school and Board certification is required.
