Therapists develop a personalized plan with patients for reentry to the workforce.
Our work conditioning program features an intensive two-hour treatment program held three to five times weekly. Our therapists focus on restoring and/or improving a patient’s physical capacity and function for a return to work after injury or illness.
NorthShore’s Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Services emphasizes physical conditioning through stretching, strengthening, endurance and coordination activities. Patients may also participate in job simulation activities to further prepare them for re-entry into the workplace.
Additional work conditioning rehab services include functional capacity evaluations to identify physical and functional capabilities and work tolerances. Our therapists will also conduct ergonomic job site assessments to determine if individuals can safely function and perform the duties of their job in the actual workplace environment. Recommendations may focus on positioning, lifting, body mechanics and equipment.
