We are most proud to once again be recognized in the Best Hospitals ranking for the outstanding care provided at NorthShore University HealthSystem.
~Mark Neaman, President and Chief Executive Officer
7/16/2013 – Two NorthShore University HealthSystem (NorthShore) specialties are nationally ranked and nine others are rated as high performing in the U.S. News & World Report’s annual Best Hospitals survey. NorthShore was nationally ranked in Gynecology (#21) and Gastroenterology & GI Surgery (#40), and rated as high-performing in the following:
- Diabetes & Endocrinology
- Ear, Nose & Throat
- Neurology & Neurosurgery
In addition, NorthShore is #7 in a ranking of hospitals in both Illinois and the Chicago metropolitan region, according to the survey. The annual rankings, now in their 24th year, recognize hospitals that excel in treating patients who face particularly difficult surgery, a challenging condition, or added risk because of other health problems or age. The evaluation looked at about 5,000 hospitals nationwide, ranking them in 16 different specialties, and just 3 percent of all hospitals earned a national ranking in any specialty.
“We are most proud to once again be recognized in the Best Hospitals ranking for the outstanding care provided at NorthShore University HealthSystem,” said Mark Neaman, President and Chief Executive Officer of NorthShore. “It is a testament not only to the physician expertise at NorthShore but also the comprehensive system of caring that is focused on always providing our patients with exceptional experiences.”
The Best Hospitals survey uses objective measures such as patient survival and safety data, the adequacy of nurse staffing levels and other data to determine the rankings in most specialties. The specialty rankings and data were produced for U.S. News by RTI International, a leading research organization based in Research Triangle Park, N.C.
The rankings have been published at http://health.usnews.com/best-hospitals and will appear in print in the U.S. News Best Hospitals 2014 guidebook, available in bookstores and on newsstands August 27.
