Mark R. Neaman
President and Chief Executive Officer
Mark Neaman has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of NorthShore University HealthSystem since 1992. Mr. Neaman has spent his entire career in Evanston, joining the hospital in 1974 after earning his Master of Science, Business & Healthcare degree from Ohio State University.
Mr. Neaman has served on a variety of healthcare-related organizations. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and served on the Board of Governors for the College and was Chairman. He is a member of the Healthcare Leadership Council and has served as the Chairman of the Board. He also is actively involved with The Advisory Board Company. Mr. Neaman is a member of the American Hospital Association and served on the Regional Advisory Board of AHA and the Board of Directors of the Illinois Hospital Association; is a member and was Chairman of the Board of the National Committee for Quality Health Care in Washington, D.C.; and is a member of the International Hospital Federation. He was named the Healthcare CEO of the Year by HIMSS/Modern Healthcare, and in 2009 Mr. Neaman was the recipient of ACHE's highest recognition, the Gold Medal Award. In addition, he was the recipient of the Chicago Health Executives Forum (CHEF) Career Achievement Award in 2014.
Chief Operating Officer
J.P. Gallagher joined the management staff of NorthShore University HealthSystem in 2002, preceded by an Administrative Leadership position at Advocate Christ Medical Center. He began his career at Glenbrook Hospital and was later promoted to Senior Vice President at Evanston Hospital. He served as President of Evanston Hospital for four years before advancing to Chief Operating Officer of NorthShore in 2012. Mr. Gallagher completed his undergraduate degree at Princeton University and earned an MBA in Healthcare Management from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business.
President, NorthShore Evanston Hospital
Douglas M. Silverstein has been with NorthShore since 1992. Currently he serves as President of Evanston Hospital, where he is responsible for the operations, management, strategic planning and program development. Silverstein has a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University and a master's degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Michigan.
President, NorthShore Glenbrook Hospital
Sean O'Grady began his NorthShore career with the Medical Group in 2007 as Vice President, Specialty Practices. As President of Glenbrook Hospital, he is responsible for operations, management, strategic planning and program development. Prior to joining NorthShore, O'Grady worked at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago as Vice President, Operations, and at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis in various administrative positions. O'Grady completed The Jewish Hospital of St. Louis fellowship in 1994. He earned his bachelor's degree from Bradley University and his master's in Hospital and Health Administration from The University of Iowa.
Jesse Peterson Hall
President, NorthShore Highland Park Hospital
Jesse Peterson Hall graduated from Western Australian Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in Applied Science. He obtained his MBA from University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. He joined the staff of NorthShore in 2002 as Senior Vice President at Evanston Hospital. Prior to joining NorthShore, Hall served in administrative roles at Geisinger Health Systems in Danville, Pennsylvania, and Memorial Health Services in Long Beach, California.
President, NorthShore Skokie Hospital
Kristen Murtos joined NorthShore in 1998 as Vice President of the Medical Group. Today, as President of Skokie Hospital, she is responsible for the hospital's operations, management, strategic planning and program development. In addition, she oversees NorthShore Corporate Marketing, Communications and Business Development activities. Murtos has a bachelor's degree from University of Illinois and earned master's degrees in Business Administration and Public Policy from the University of Chicago.
Joseph Golbus, MD
President and CEO, NorthShore Medical Group
Dr. Joseph Golbus is President and CEO of the 900-plus physician, multispecialty group practice. He graduated from the University of Illinois summa cum laude and received his MD from the same institution. This was followed by residency training in internal medicine at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine at Evanston Hospital, and fellowship training in rheumatology at the University of Michigan Hospitals and the Rackham Arthritis Research Unit. Dr. Golbus has received his MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management. In addition to his full-time responsibilities running the NorthShore Medical Group, Dr. Golbus remains a practicing physician and has received numerous awards and honors, including the National Arthritis Foundation Leadership Award, and has been consistently named as one of America's "Top Doctors." He is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine.
Michael S. Caplan, MD
Chief Scientific Officer, NorthShore Research Institute
Dr. Michael Caplan functions as lead corporate executive for research development and administration as well as principal day-to-day administrator of the NorthShore-University of Chicago research partnership. Dr. Caplan also serves as Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics.
Dr. Caplan graduated with honors from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. At Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Dr. Caplan completed residency training in pediatrics followed by a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine. In addition to his administrative duties, Dr. Caplan remains a practicing neonatologist and a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine.
Dr. Caplan has received numerous awards and honors, including the National Institutes of Health Clinical Investigator Award and the March of Dimes Jonas Salk Health Services Award. Dr. Caplan has been with NorthShore for over 20 years.
Executive Director, NorthShore Foundation
Murray Ancell joined NorthShore in 2007. As Executive Director of NorthShore Foundation, he is responsible for overseeing all philanthropy in support of the organization. Ancell completed his undergraduate work at the University of East Anglia and graduate studies at the University of Surrey. Prior to joining NorthShore he worked in London and Brussels for ExxonMobil Supply and Trading, before becoming Corporate Director of Customer Experience at The Hardage Group, a privately-owned hotel and real estate development company headquartered in San Diego, California. Mr. Ancell is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE).
