Lymphedema:  Minimizing Your Risk After Surgery

Lymphedema is most frequently developed after a surgical procedure, such as mastectomy of pelvic surgery, which interferes with lymphatic drainage.  Radiation Therapy to lymph node areas may also cause or increase lymphedema development.  A licensed Lymphedema Therapist will discuss the pathophysiology of the lymphatic system, lymphedema treatment and management as well as daily life precautions to minimize the risk of lymphedema.
