Healing means becoming your real self…It is a constant process we should all be engaged in whether we are ill or not. ~ Mark Barasch
Who are we?
We are a team of conventional physicians and alternative practitioners committed to improving your health through a broader approach to health and illness by embracing an expanded range of therapies.
It is our fundamental belief that the mind, body and spirit are intimately connected and that health is most successfully addressed when viewed at these different levels. Over the course of our interactions, we will inquire about your nutrition, physical activity, breathing, rest, relationships, environment, awareness and spirituality. During our initial visit we will also review your medical records and check your medications for interactions with any herbs or supplements that you are currently taking. Although we may not have time to fully cover these subjects during your first appointment, this information is critical to creating a thoughtful, comprehensive treatment plan. Follow up appointments will be determined depending on your care plan.
What treatments are available?
As part of your treatment plan, you will receive specific written recommendations on medications, herbs and supplements, nutrition and exercise advice, methods to reduce stress, as well as appropriate referrals to our practitioners or to providers in your geographic area. These referrals may include Traditional Chinese Medicine (acupuncture), nutrition, massage, energy work, counseling, breathing/meditation work, medical hypnosis, or fitness training.
What happens during an initial appointment?
We encourage you to invite a family member or friend to your appointment for support and additional insight. First appointments are approximately sixty minutes and follow-up visits are approximately thirty minutes. Because the insurance industry generally does not specifically cover alternative approaches to healthcare, you will be responsible for payment at the time of care. The charge for a first time appointment is $380 and follow–up visits, depending upon the length and complexity of the visit, average from $135 - $271. Many of our patients have found that their insurance carriers will partially reimburse for our services, so we encourage you to investigate this option. In addition, you may want to check with your health insurance carrier to see if they offer a Flexible Spending Account for our services.
In order to maximize our time together, we ask that you bring the following information to your first visit:
- A completed intake form
- Copies of your medical records, including specialist consultation letters
- Recent lab records (within 1 year)
- Results of all major tests like stress tests, echocardiograms and surgical biopsies.
- A list of all medications (with dosages) that you are currently taking
- A list of all herbs and supplements you are currently taking
Note: If your physicians and tests were at NorthShore, your records will likely be in the EPIC system, so do not worry about bringing in those records.
