Bezoar

A solid hard mass of foreign material found in the stomach (hair or fuzzy materials).

Gastric Outlet Obstruction

Obstruction of the muscle (pyloric sphincter) at the outlet of the stomach,which blocks the flow of gastric contents into the duodenum.

Gastric Varices

Dilated veins in the stomach which may bleed. It is typically a consequence of cirrhosis.
Gastritis

Inflammation of the stomach lining.

Hiatal Hernia

Occurs when the end of the esophagus that is attached to the stomach protrudes through the diaphragm and into the thoracic cavity due to muscle weakness.

Gastric Polyp

A pimple like growth in the stomach that is relatively uncommon.

Ulcer

Irritation and inflammation that wears through the stomach lining which may result in three types of ulcers: duodenal, peptic, and gastric.

Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome

A disorder in which increased levels of the hormone gastrin are produced, causing the stomach to produce excess hydrochloric acid.  Frequently, the cause is a tumor of the pancreas producing the hormone gastrin.
