Body Imaging

Our Purpose

We specialize in the use and interpretation of cross-sectional imaging techniques to diagnose and follow disease processes of the chest, abdomen and pelvis.

Our Team

The body imaging section includes board certified radiologists who are fellowship trained in body imaging and have the expertise of performing and interpreting diagnostic studies to diagnose all disease processes of the body using several techniques.

Our Services

  • CT Scanning
    • Most locations offer state-of –the-art 64 slice multi-detector CT scanners utilizing scanning protocols developed by our body imaging radiologists to optimize information while keeping radiation as low as possible.
    • CT angiogram (CTA) can be performed to evaluate the blood vessels (arteries and veins) in the chest, abdomen and pelvis.  This involves the rapid injection of iodinated contrast material into a vein while obtaining thinner CT images.  These images will then be reconstructed to form 3-D images of the blood vessels.
  • MRI Scanning
    • The Department of Radiology utilizes multiple 1.5 Tesla magnets as well as a high-field 3 Tesla closed MRI.  Open 0.7 Tesla magnets are available for patients unable to undergo body imaging in a closed scanner.  We recently acquired 2 large bore 1.5 Tesla magnets for added patient comfort.
    • MRCP (Magnetic Resonance Cholangiopancreatography) – an application of MRI to image the pancreatic and hepato-biliary system in patients who are unable to undergo standard ERCP exams.
  • Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA) – a technique used to study abnormalities of the aorta and its major branches to rule out peripheral arterial disease for patients who can not tolerate iodinated contrast.
  • Ultrasound
    • The use of ultrasound to scan the internal organs such as the liver, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas and kidneys adds a different dimension to the arsenal of technology available to help diagnose disease and contribute to your care plan.
