Cardiology Fellowship

NorthShore University HealthSystem's Division of Cardiology offers a Cardiology Fellowship training program sponsored by the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. The Cardiology Fellowship Program, led by Program Director Amit Pursnani, MD, Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine, University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, and  Associate Program Director Jordan Harris, MD, Clinical Assistant Professor, University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine offers a unique opportunity for a general cardiovascular experience and community-based education.

Core Components

The fellows will work in a high-volume Division of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery with educational opportunities at all four NorthShore hospitals—Evanston, Glenbrook, Highland Park and Skokie. During the three year fellowship program, fellows will receive high quality training in cardiovascular medicine including the performance of general cardiovascular procedures. The fellows will have the opportunity to experience the following core components of the program:

  • Work with clinicians and clinical researchers
  • General inpatient and outpatient consultation exposure
    • Advanced Heart Failure
    • Vascular Medicine
    • Preventative Cardiology
  • Imaging rotations:
    • Echocardiography
    • Catheterization Laboratory
    • Nuclear Medicine
    • Cardiac MRI/CT
    • Vascular Medicine
    • Electrophysiology
    • Stress Testing
  • Dedicated research time 

Additionally, the fellow will be required to participate in a variety of conferences within the Division of Cardiology and have an active role in the cadiovascular board review course and all other key conferences such as Clinical Core Lecture, Cardiac Catheterization Conference, Imaging Conference. https://uchicago.medhub.com/functions/public/conferences.mh?p=243

Pre-requisite/Training/Selection Criteria

Completion of an ACGME accredited residency program in Internal Medicine is required. Candidates with additional post-graduate training will also be considered. Candidates must have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in clinical endeavors, education and  research during GME training by providing evidence of active participation in educational or research programs.

The University of Chicago (NorthShore) Cardiology Fellowship Program will be participating in the Cardiology Match administered by the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP)
