What to Bring to the Hospital

For Mother

  • Driver’s license
  • Insurance Card
  • Bath robe, slippers and/or socks
  • Hair clips or hair band
  • Balm for dry lips
  • Lotion or oil for massage (non-scented)
  • CDs or tapes (any music that helps you relax)
  • Toiletries
  • Night gown (hospital gowns are available, and may be preferred)
  • Going home outfit
  • Nursing bra and pads (if nursing) (available for purchase at Breastfeeding Resource Center)

For Baby

  • Going home outfit (undershirt, sleeper, booties, receiving blanket, hat and outside clothes)
  • Car seat to bring baby home
  • Emery board for baby nail care

For Support Person

  • Snacks
  • Change of clothes
  • Toiletries
  • Tylenol or Advil

General

  • Camera, video equipment, extra film, batteries, etc.
  • Pillows (with colored pillow case)
  • Quarters for vending machines
  • Calling card for long distance calls (NO cell phones, please)
  • Telephone list of family and friends
  • Pen or pencil
  • Videos
