About Us    

The NorthShore University HealthSystem Dental Center is a state-of-the-art facility located on the Ground Floor (Room G200) of Evanston Hospital.  There are two full time, licensed dentists performing all primary care services.  Additionally, there are specialists regularly available who are faculty members with the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine.

The Dental Center provides a wide range of dental services including:

• The temporomandibular joint connects the lower jaw, called the mandible, to the temporal bone at the side of the head. Some experts suggest that stress may cause or aggravate temporomandibular disorders (TMD).

  Implants - including immediate type
• Diagnosis and second opinion consultations
• Cosmetics and tooth whitening
• Pediatric care - sealants and fluoride
• Crowns and bridges
• Removable partials
• Dentures
• Periodontal treatment
• Root canal treatment - traditional and microscopic
• Tooth colored fillings
• General dental preventive care (cleanings)
• Oral surgical and grafting procedures
• State-of-the-art panoramic diagnostic x-ray
• Basic dental x-rays and DEXIS digital systems
• Oral health screening for Oncology and Cardiovascular patients
• Biteguards

Becoming a Patient

X-rays are an important diagnostic tool in dentistry because they aid in detecting problems that are not visible during a clinical exam. 

• Your first appointment will be for a full set of x-rays. In addition, a panoramic x-ray, which gives your dentist an expanded view of your jaws, is taken to complete your treatment plan.
  
  
• Your second appointment will be with your dentist for a mouth exam.
  
   
• At the third appointment, your treatment will begin.

Pediatric patients are seen on Wednesday mornings from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  Patients from the ages of 3-12 are eligible to be seen as pediatric patients.

Financial Information

The Dental Center accepts the First Commonwealth/Guardian HMO Plan.  Additionally, all NorthShore University HealthSystem employees, their spouses and children receive a 50% discount.  However, the 50% discount does not apply to the First Commonwealth co-payments, or to dental implants.

The Dental Center does not have contracts with other dental insurance carriers; however, if you choose to receive care here, we will provide you with a form of services provided and a receipt for your payment in full for your submission to your insurance carrier.

The Dental Center does not accept the Medicaid card but does provide a sliding scale for those patients who qualify.  To see if you are eligible, please call the financial interviewers first; last names beginning with A-L, call 847.570.2076, last names beginning with M-Z, call 847.570.1850 for an appointment.

Payment for services is due in full at the time of treatment.  For extensive dental procedures requiring laboratory services, certain financial contracts will be arranged.
