1/6/2010 – Tickets go on sale today for a special benefit concert celebrating the 10th anniversary of NorthShore University HealthSystem’s (NorthShore) groundbreaking Integrative Medicine Program. Billy Corgan, a Chicago-area native and lead singer and guitarist of The Smashing Pumpkins, will perform several of his songs with Zoom, a band founded by Matt Walker, former drummer for the Pumpkins and currently with Morrissey.
The concert will be held February 18, 2010 at LaSalle Power Company, 500 N. LaSalle, Chicago. In addition to the concert, the evening will feature a silent auction and raffle, cocktails and appetizers. Pricing per ticket is $150 for general admission and $300 for a special VIP package. The VIP ticket includes the concert, two hour open bar, heavy appetizers and an exclusive "meet & greet" with Billy Corgan and Matt Walker. General ticket includes two drink tickets and the concert. "With only about 300 tickets available, we expect that they will go fast," said Leslie Mendoza Temple, MD, Director Integrative Medicine Program at NorthShore. "We are looking forward to a great event that will raise much needed funds for a great cause."
Proceeds will support an Integrative Medicine pilot program at the Kellogg Cancer Center at Evanston Hospital, specifically to provide counseling, acupuncture, massage therapy, stress reduction, and nutrition/supplements to patients at the Kellogg Cancer Center who otherwise could not afford these important services. These treatments have been shown to help relieve the physical and emotional burdens of having cancer and the side effects of conventional medical treatments, while encouraging the body’s natural healing response. While important to the healing process,
