Dr. Egon Doppenberg graduated Cum Laude from the School of Medicine at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands. He completed a fellowship in stroke and neurotrauma followed by a residency in Neurological Surgery at the Medical College of Virginia. Subsequently, he completed a Neurosurgical Oncology fellowship in brain and spine tumors at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, University of Texas in Houston.
Dr. Doppenberg has participated in various surgical missions to Central and South America for the treatment of tumors and congenital abnormalities in children.
Dr. Egon Doppenberg’s special interests include complex degenerative, oncological and traumatic spinal disorders, brain tumors and minimally invasive spinal procedures.
He is Section Head of Brain and Spine Tumor Surgery and Stereotactic Radiosurgery. He currently is Clinical Assistant Professor in Neurological Surgery at the University of Chicago.
