Surgery is an important aspect of cancer treatment. Our physician-scientists are developing surgical methods that are less invasive and may lead to earlier cancer detection.

Quality surgical and medical treatments...visionary research...patient and family support... medical education--this four-pronged approach produces the quality-driven care that is the Kellogg Cancer Center's hallmark.
The Center, with locations at Evanston, Glenbrook and Highland Park Hospitals, spearheaded the multidisciplinary outpatient management of cancer that is now a national model. One of the Top Five Illinois hospitals delivering cancer care, it is one of a select few of the 50 Community Clinical Oncology Programs to have received continuous National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding for 20 years.
The benefits to patients are innumerable. Weekly multidisciplinary conferences determine the optimum therapies for individual patients. And our research endeavors make national clinical trials available--right in our community.
Long at the vanguard of cancer care, the Center is making dramatic gains in the laboratory:
Leading the charge to link the genetic and medical causes of cancer through the work of our internationally regarded research teams
Using biological markers and sophisticated imaging techniques for the early detection of pancreatic, colon and lung cancers
Improving outcomes and quality-of-life for cancer patients via our nationally recognized Center for Outcomes Research and Education
