Many volunteer fund-raising, friend-raising and community service groups operate within the auspices of the NorthShore University HealthSystem (NorthShore) Foundation to further provide support for NorthShore’s mission “to preserve and improve human life.” The enthusiastic, dedicated members of these groups have been responsible for raising in excess of $20 million for NorthShore. Each group offers a myriad of involvement opportunities. More details and information on how to join is outlined on their web pages listed below.
The Auxiliary at Evanston & Glenbrook Hospitals, founded in 1935, hosts two major annual events, The Hospitals’ Gala in June and The American Craft Exposition (ACE) in August, and conducts an annual appeal for contributions to these events’ philanthropic goals along with offering a variety of service projects throughout the year.
The Auxiliary at Highland Park Hospital , founded in 1921, joins with Saks Fifth Avenue in Highland Park each October to hold its “Key to the Cure” fundraiser. The Auxiliary operates Highland Park Hospital’s Alcove Gift Shop, oversees a variety of service projects throughout the year and conducts an annual appeal for philanthropic support.
The Myra Rubenstein Weis Health Resource Center was established in 1992, by Eileen Goldstein and her husband, Paul Goldstein MD, in memory of her sister, Myra Rubenstein Weis. The Resource Center provides health education and promotes health awareness to the communities served by Highland Park Hospital and NorthShore. Each spring, the Myra Weis Rubenstein Health Resource Center’s Benefit Committee holds an annual “Celebrate Life” luncheon.
The Associate Board, established in 2003, provides opportunities for young professionals to support NorthShore through a variety of fundraising, social and professional networking and community service outreach initiatives. The Associate Board’s annual benefit takes place each November.
The Women’s Board at Skokie Hospital, established in 2000, sponsors community health and wellness programs and screenings, as well as provides critical philanthropic support for Skokie Hospital.
The NorthShore Student Healthcare Board, founded in 2009, is a pilot program at New Trier High School for students interested in supporting NorthShore. The students gain knowledge and appreciation for the healthcare field while conducting volunteer and philanthropic activities.
