Cardiologists

The NorthShore University HealthSystem Cardiology group consists of board-certified cardiologists covering all aspects of clinical cardiology. Special expertise includes cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, and congestive heart failure. Comprehensive cardiac imaging services including echocardiography are available at all office locations. Special clinics include lipid and Coumadin management, pacemaker and defibrillator follow-up, and congestive heart failure treatment.

Cardiac Surgeons

The NorthShore University HealthSystem cardiothoracic surgery program offers open-heart surgery at both Evanston and Highland Park Hospitals, as well as a full spectrum of innovative surgical procedures utilizing the most up-to-date equipment and technologies. The cardiac surgery team exceeds the American College of Cardiology's quality guidelines for open-heart surgery: each individual surgeon has performed more than 1,000 open-heart surgeries.

Advanced Practice Nurses and Physician Assistants 

NorthShore University HealthSystem utilizes specialized nurses and physician assistants with advanced training in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular illnesses. Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) have graduate degrees and carry national certification in their specialty. Both groups work closely with your physician to facilitate the best care possible. Our Cardiology APN Service provides care to clinical cardiology, heart failure, and interventional cardiology and electrophysiology patients. Our Cardiac Surgery Service includes APNs and PAs who provide care in all phases of cardiac and thoracic surgery, from preoperative assessment to the operating room and throughout postoperative recovery.
