Attrition, Graduation and Certification
Attrition
The School reserves the right to recommend the withdrawal or dismissal of a nurse anesthesia student whose health, conduct, academic, or clinical performance is below the School standards. This decision will be made, with faculty consensus, at any time during the program and with consideration of the student involved, the school, and the public community. The Class of 2008-2012 had an average attrition rate of 7.74%.
Graduation
A student who successfully completes the program will receive a Diploma in Nurse Anesthesia from NorthShore University HealthSystem School of Nurse Anesthesia and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from DePaul University. Graduation date will be extended for students who exceed the allowable time off or who fail to meet all of the residency objectives/requirements by the scheduled deadline.
Certification
Graduates are eligible to take the Certification Examination for Nurse Anesthetists offered by the National Board on Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
The Class of 2011 had a 100% first time pass rate on the certification exam; national pass rate was 89%.
