The MRI fellowship is a dedicated one-year program for one or two fellows incorporating all aspects of clinical magnetic resonance imaging. The year is subdivided into thirteen 4-week rotations which are supervised by sub-specialized radiologists in the following core areas: body, musculoskeletal, and neuro. A total of approximately 200 – 300 MRI examinations are performed daily between the core areas. Images are interpreted on our GE PACS system at Evanston hospital from nine clinical 1.5 and 3.0 Tesla MR systems as well as open 1.0 and 1.2 Tesla MR systems.
MRI fellows are also involved in performing arthrograms, CT-guided musculoskeletal procedures, and optional neuroradiology and interventional radiology procedures. MRI fellows will gain experience using the latest post-processing techniques using Vitrea and GE-ADW workstations in our new dedicated 3D lab. Opportunities are also available for clinical and basic research in our new 10,000 square foot radiology research facility with 1.5 Tesla and 3.0 Tesla whole-body MR systems. The educational opportunities are enhanced by optional and mandatory weekly interdisciplinary conferences in several different subspecialties including: thoracic, cardiology, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, gynecology, head and neck, and tumor board.
MRI fellows participate in the general radiology fellow call pool with the other MSK and body imaging fellows.
