Skokie Hospital SCIP-1 Prophylactic Antibiotic Received within 1 Hour Prior to Surgical Incision

Research has shown that the period of greatest likelihood of developing an infection related to surgery is between the incision and the closure of the wound. Giving an antibiotic 1 hour prior to the incision provides an adequate dose to fight infection after the wound is closed.

Our goal is to be in the top 10% percent of hospitals nationwide. We have multi-disciplinary teams actively working to improve our performance in this area and others.
